Our methodology
How our calculators reach their numbers, and how we keep them trustworthy.
Show the formula
Every calculator states the formula it uses in plain language. For the tip calculator, that is tip = bill × (tip% ÷ 100) and total = bill + tip. All math runs in your browser; we never see or store what you type.
Source the data
Reference tables — like tipping rates by service or by country — cite the basis for their figures directly beneath each table. Where a tool depends on official data (tax brackets, inflation, wage figures), we cite the primary source, such as the IRS or the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Keep it current
Each tool shows a visible “last updated” date. We review tools on a recurring schedule and refresh any figures that change over time, so the numbers stay accurate.
Estimates, not advice
Our tools are for estimation and education. They are not financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. For decisions with real financial consequences, confirm the numbers with a qualified professional. See our full disclaimer for details.
